Once upon a time Murder, Kidnapping, Gambling, Arson, Robbery, Bribery, Extortion and Drugs were the words to which Organized Crime was coined to. But as Digital life has advanced the terms are now being replaced by E-scams, Smishing and Vishing, Identity Theft and many more.
All these activities performed by few and very sharp minded people that tend to change over time and but with the same motive – To steal and use our information. Sometimes these are for professional use (giving out the data/ control to someone else) and at other times for personal causes. As the time has passed these people have started to work in groups/ syndicate and go for looking new targets and employers for new contract.
As of the latest news Boss of a Syndicate is giving away a Ferrari for best online scam. Thus they are looking forward to recruit techies from the new new impatient generation. As found in a recent study by Australian Institute of Criminology “1 in 5 Australians has been victim of cybercrime”.
With the new cyber warfare going on many companies are exploiting these unlawful resources to gain power over their competitors. This is very evident from the fact that an online tech support firm that has helped me and many others has been defamed by a fake user reviews on spambook.com.
As i called Sunrise PC Support for a software installation issue and asked their support person in charge for the reviews being displayed in Google search results. They answered affirmatively that it is competitors tactic to take down trust of their customers by posting bad reviews. They also confirmed that in case of any problem their customer call them on their toll free no. 1-888-703-9488. They claimed “In any case it would be us who would be solving or refunding the money not any other website”.
In the end the point is that “Protect your Identity and data before it’s late”.
